TEAM BRIAN

​He will always be in our hearts.

The Ice Cream Chase 5k was established to celebrate Brian's love for ice cream and running. He ate a bowl of ice cream almost every night. His favorite flavors are the race themes.

Brian's legacy is to give back to his high school, Northside College Prep, by awarding an annual college scholarship.

Team Brian at the Blueberry 5k!

We run for Brian! Thank you to everyone who joined Team Brian to run or walk the South Haven, Michigan Blueberry 5k in 2019.  Brian started running this race when he was 9-years-old.
Once again, we wore our purple Team Brian shirts at the Blueberry 5k! If you would like to purchase a Team Brian shirt, email icecreamchase5k@gmail.com. We have Team Brian shirts available for $20, while supplies last.

About Brian

Brian McManus, Northside College Prep Class of 2017, Queen of All Saints Class of 2013, courageously lost his battle with leukemia in 2018. His legacy is to give back to his high school, where he was a four-year varsity, two-year captain for the cross country and track & field teams. He intended to continue his running career at Cornell College. Brian had a passion for running and was best known for his kindness, humor, silly smiles, and for encouraging, challenging, and supporting his teammates and classmates. ​

About the Scholarship

All proceeds of the Ice Cream Chase 5k fund the Brian McManus Scholarship. ​This scholarship is awarded annually to a selected Northside graduating senior who exemplifies Brian's spirit of leadership, kindness to others, and athleticism.  Students must have a 3.5+ unweighted GPA, demonstrate leadership, and participate in 2+ school team sports. To  apply, contact your Northside counselor for details.
